Christchurch Mayor Phil Mauger has secured another term, holding a commanding lead in this year's local elections.
Results show Mauger with 54,644 votes, giving him a majority of almost 20,000 over his nearest rival, Sara Templeton, who has received 34,726 votes.
The next highest polling mayoral candidate, Thomas Healey, trailed well behind with 1,547 votes.
Mauger will be joined at the Council table by two new councillors and 14 returning members, according to the latest count. However, the Electoral Officer says not all ordinary votes have been counted yet. Votes received on the morning the election, along with special votes, are still to be processed, meaning results could change.
Preliminary results were released on Sunday, 12 October, once all ordinary votes are tallied. Final results, including special votes, are due by Thursday, 16 October.
